Healthy Eating On the Road: McDonalds

healthier eating options on the road mcdonalds

Welcome to another stop in our “Healthier Eating on the Road” series. As I said in the first post (Chick-fil-A),  we end up eating fast food at some point on every road trip. We are trying to eat healthier options while traveling and decided to explore the healthy scoop in fast food chains along the way. Today we are talking healthier eating options at McDonald’s.

As before, we are strictly counting calories in this case. Sodium and fat are definitely huge things to double check for or keep in mind as you plan out the rest of the day’s meals. Please note we are by no means saying these are a healthy normal diet.  I am factoring in a lunch or dinner at approximately 500 calories so I will include items that can be a meal on their own or mix and match to provide that general amount. So many things go into what truly makes a meal healthy, but this makes a quick and easy cheat sheet for you on what choices may be not quite as bad. McDonald’s has newer wraps that are perfect for eating on the run but how healthy are they? Let’s see if they make this cut.
